21 Savage’s birth name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph. He was born on October 22, 1992, in Atlanta, Georgia, the U.S. Unlike most American children, he was not so lucky to have a humble childhood. His young days were filled with criminality as he grew in such a hood.
We do not know the name of both his parents. But we have come to know his mother, is of Dominican descent and his father is from Haitian descent. He was raised by his parents with his siblings. Shayaa has many siblings- 4 brothers and 6 sisters to be exact. One big family! But sadly, one of his siblings, a younger brother was killed in a shooting after a drug deal turned into an attempted robbery.
Shayaa did not graduate from high school. He was so much involved in criminal activity that in 7th grade he was permanently banned from every school in the DeKalb County School District. And for what? gun possession to defend himself from the bullies at school.
Due to this record, Shayya began to attend schools around Atlanta metropolitan area at his mother’s request. This too did not work out for him. He was sent to a youth detention center. After being released from the center, the rapper did try to get an education. He completed 8th grade through an alternative program. He did finish his first semester of high school. But he dropped out in his freshman year to sell drugs.
After being a dropout, the rapper joined a gang and became a full-time drug dealer. He was also regularly involved in the robbery and grand theft auto. At the age of 19, he lost his friend Larry in a shootout. 2 years on, in 2013, he was shot six times during an attempted robbery but was lucky to be alive. But his little brother did not have luck like Shayaa. His brother Johnny “Tay-Man” was killed. This event had occurred on his 21st birthday.
21 Savage career
After Shayaa’s brother’s tragic death, he left the thug life. His vision broadened as he looked for the way out of his street life. He then approached record producer Metro who helped him launch his music career. Soon Shayya’s first mixtape ‘The Slaughter Tape’ was released. The mixtape was a success. His second mixtape ‘Slaughter King’ as released on July 15, 2016, which gave him international success.

Now he has collaborations with international names such as Drake, Meek, Young Dolph, Lil Yachty, Rich the Kid, Lil Uzi Vert, Ralo, Dreezy, PnB Rock and Lil Durk.

21 Savage controversies
In 2018, Shayaa started a movement for better future of the people the in same situation as he was. He called the movement “Guns Down, Paintballs Up”. The intention of this movement was to reduce gun violence in the country.
James Craig, head of Detroit Police Department had described Shayya’s movement as “well-intentioned, however, misguided” as the movement has been linked to numerous cases of property crime and homicide.
Shayya has also been a subject to another controversy. He pulled out a gun during a pool party on June 11, 2018. Later he reported that he was given the gun by a friend as an opposing crew had pulled out a pistol.
Also On June 14, 2018, Shayya threw some said on all the Atlanta rappers, calling them “hoes” during an Instagram live stream.
21 Savage girlfriend and children
So, is the rapper married? No, Shayaa is an unmarried man but he is a father. At the age of 19, he was already a father of two. He says that his children are his main motivation to look for a better life.
As of 2018, 25-year-old Shayaa is a father of three. We do not know the names of his baby mamas. In summer of 2017, he was in a relationship with model and former stripper Amber Rose. The couple broke up in March 2018. There were rumors of them getting engaged which turned out to be false.
