Michigan State University

From the 1995 season onwards, Nick Saban was the head coach of the Michigan State University football team. They hadn’t won a season since 1990, so Saban was hopeful that things would turn around.

The Spartans’ games improved almost immediately when Saban arrived, as he led them to bowl games in each of his first three seasons.

Louisiana State University  (LSU)

LSU hired Nick Saban as their 31st head coach in November of 1999. The Tigers had an above-average season in 2000.

They won and lost a mixed bag of games, including defeats by the Auburn Tigers and Florida Gators.

With a 10–3 record in 2001, Nick Saban led the Tigers to a successful season. They were SEC champions and Sugar Bowl champions.
