Alana Thompson, famously known as Honey Boo Boo is going to have weight-loss surgery. On Wednesday, she announced that she will have endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty (ESG) in August. Though, Honey Boo Boo tried physical exercises as well as diet. But all of them failed and she couldn’t lose weight. The only option left to her is ESG surgery.
Similarly, Alana stated in “Entertainment Tonight” on Wednesday,
“I know for a fact I could get in the gym, and I know for a fact I could diet, and I know for a fact I can do this to lose my weight. I’ve tried. I will say I’ve tried, but the one thing with me is I have no motivation. I have no motivation to just keep going to the gym every day. I have no motivation to keep eating healthy because, like, I’m gonna eat what I think is good.”

Though Alana wants to eat and do as she wants either it’s good for the weight loss or worst. Furthermore, Thompson said,
“I just think I don’t have motivation, and I feel like the surgery would be, like, probably the easiest way to just, like, lose it fast.”

Further, Lauryn Shannon said,
“I’m really happy for Alana if that’s something that she really wants to do. I definitely think before she takes that big step, which I haven’t told her this yet, but I think she does need to start making the lifestyle changes.”

However, it is heard that Alana is doing it because her manager told her that she will “lose 100 pounds basically instantly.” Also, the manager made sure that Thompson and her boyfriend, Dralin Carswell will be treated by weight-loss expert Dr. Steven Batash in New York City.
The procedure will cost them $13,000, but she told “ET” that she is not 100 percent sure. And, Honey Boo Boo stated,
“I just wanna make sure that this is actually something I wanna do before I just go and do it. I wanna make sure that it’s, like, not something that’s, like, gonna kill me. And I just wanna make sure it’s something I actually wanna do before I go and do it.”

About Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty(ESG)
Endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty is a form of weight loss surgery that involves suturing or sewing. It helps the stomach to reduce its size by up to 70 to 80%. Though this surgery helps many younger patients with diabetes or high blood pressure. According to De.Buchin,
“Their lives become longer, and their quality of life becomes better because teens and children who are morbidly obese can not always do the same things that their peers can do. The quality of life improvement is drastic, and they can do so much more with their lives.”
When dr, McGowen was asked if children can undergo weight loss surgery. He said,
“It is not authorized for use in adolescents. [However,] the procedure is quite safe. And there’s at least one large study that showed that it’s safe and effective, but there’s a much bigger issue here.”
McGowen continued,
“So whether they could technically have the procedure is really not the question. The question is, is it the right procedure for that person at that time in their life?”
We will see later if the weight loss surgery really helps Alana Thomson or not!
