Felix Trinidad

Felix Trinidad better known as “Tito” Trinidad, is a former professional boxer from Puerto. He received various world titles in three weight classes.

Felix Trinidad | Early Life and Family

Felix Trinidad was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, on January 10, 1973. Tito has a sister, Luz M. Trinidad, in addition to his parents.

Similarly, when Tito was a child, the family relocated to Cupey Alto, a neighborhood in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Similarly, Sharon’s father was opposed to the relationship because Trinidad was an athlete, and the profession was inevitably fraught with violence, resulting in a negative public image.

Fortunately, all of the odds were shattered, and the couple married. Larysha Trinidad, Leysha Trinidad, Alayah Trinidad, and Ashley Trinidad are their four daughters.

Trinidad also has another daughter, Alondra Nicole, from a previous relationship.

Boxing Records

The boxing veteran began fighting at a young age and fought for nearly two decades. Tito was a World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation champion.

Professional Boxing Career

Tito began his professional boxing debut on March 10, 1990, when he was 17 years old.

Welter Weight

He competed as a debutant against another debutant, boxer Angel Romero. Tito won by knockout in the second round.

Trinidad’s fights progressed to more serious ones, where he faced experienced and well-trained boxers like Jake Rodriguez and Raul Gonzalez.

He then sat out for five months to recover from the injury, just as his career was taking off.

Trinidad vs. Camacho

Tito fought Hector Camacho in Las Vegas on January 29, 1994. Unfortunately, he suffered a cut over his left eye during the fight.

Nonetheless, he was declared the winner by a unanimous vote. The judges gave him scores of 117-109, 116-110, and 119-106.

Trinidad vs. Campas

On September 17, 1994, Trinidad fought against Yori Boy Campas. He traveled to Las Vegas to defend his title at the MGM Grand.

Campas, who has a 56-0 record, scored a knockdown in the second round. This was Tito’s second knockout in his career.

Tito also hurt Campas’ face and broke his nose. He was the first person to defeat Campas, handing him his first career defeat.

Trinidad vs. Oba Carr

Tiro competed in his fourth fight in the United States against the undefeated Oba Carr. Carr knocked Tito out in the second round with a quick right-hand punch.

Tito, on the other hand, continued the fight, injuring Carr with a punch. He scored three knockdowns before the fight was stopped by a technical knockout.

Tito defended his title against numerous fighters in Showtime fights for four years.

Felix displayed his abilities by dominating and injuring Zulu with punches to the head and body. Zulu then fell and attempted to rise.

However, the fight was stopped before Zulu could rise.

Trinidad vs. Whitaker

On February 20, 1999, Trinidad defended his welterweight title against Pernell Whitaker. He was victorious by unanimous decision. His thirteenth successful defense resulted in victory.

Tito and Whitaker both pushed each other excessively, used jabs, and attacked each other. As a result, the judges gave them scores of 117-111, 118-109, and 118-109.

De La Hoya vs. Trinidad
In the spring of 1999, Trinidad faced Oscar De la Hoya. They punched each other and put pressure on each other.

Trinidad’s eyes swelled, and his nose began to bleed. Despite this, he won the final two rounds of the fight.

Light Middleweight

Trinidad left the welterweight division in 2000 to compete in the light-middleweight division. He then challenged World Boxing Associations champion David Reid.

Tito dominated the fight in the eighth, ninth, and tenth rounds, opening a cut over Reid’s eye. In addition, he dominated the eleventh round, scoring three knockdowns.

Trinidad vs. Vargas Highlights

On December 2, 2000, Tito faced the International Boxing Federation’s junior middleweight champion, Fernando Vargas, in a unification bout. Tito dominated the fight at first.

Tito was also knocked out in the fourth round after Vargas punched him in the jaw.

Despite this, Trinidad regained control in the sixth round and kept it throughout the fight.

Trinidad vs. Joppy

Tito was promoted to middleweight after competing in Don King’s middleweight unification tournament.

WBC champion Keith Holmes, IBF champion Bernard Hopkins, and WBA champion William Joppy competed in the tournament.

Tito was supposed to fight Joppy. He defeated Joppy by technical knockout in the fifth round of the tournament.

He was knocked out in the second half of the first round, then again in the fourth and fifth rounds. The fight was then stopped by the referee while Joppy attempted to continue fighting.

Trinidad vs. Hopkins

Trinidad was supposed to face Hopkins on September 15, 2001. The fight could not take place, however, because terrorists attacked the World Trade Center.

The fight was then rescheduled for September 29th. However, Tito’s father entered the ring after the twelfth round, causing a commotion. The fight was then stopped by a technical knockout by the referee.

Trinidad vs. Winky Wright

On May 14, 2005, Tito faced Winky Wright to defend the World Boxing Council’s number one challenger title in the Middleweight division.

He received 120-107 and 119-108 from the judges twice.

Tito’s father, who had trained, managed, and supported him, chose not to remain in his corner. Tito then went through a period of temporary retirement.

Trinidad vs. Jones Jr.

On January 19, 2008, Tito faced former four-division champion, Roy Jones Jr., He dominated the first two rounds.

Jones, on the other hand, won every round after that. As a result, Jones Jr. was declared the winner by a unanimous decision by the judge.

The former Puerto Rican boxer went bankrupt after discovering that his top aide, Jose “Pepe” Ramos, had misappropriated over $63 million.

Bouie Fisher, Hopkins’ trainer, also stated that the Chief Inspector of NYSAC insisted on Trinidad’s camp properly rewrapping his hands without developing a direct connection between the tape and skin.
