Colton Scott Underwood is a reality television personality and former professional football player from the United States. He also spent some time with the Philadelphia Eagles and Oakland Raiders’ practice squads.

Early Life, Family, And Education

Colton Underwood was born in the American city of Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents Scott Underwood and Donna Burkard. In addition, his father is an insurance agent, and his mother is a realtor.

They met at Illinois State University and began dating soon after. As a result, they were college sweethearts.

They divorced in 2013, however. Donna also participated in volleyball and was a member of the college volleyball team.

The ex-couple were professional athletes. Additionally, they bred their two sons to be athletic.

Since they were young children, the NFL player and his younger brother Connor have been avid football fans.

Early Career

Colton played sports at the Washington Community High School alongside his brother Connor. He decided to enroll at Illinois State University after achieving academic success in high school.

The NFL player played college football for the Illinois State Redbirds. He participated in college tight-end practice and competition.

NFL Career

After graduating from college, Colton entered the 2014 NFL Draft. However, he was not drafted by an NFL team.

The Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League added Underwood to their practice squad in less than a week. However, after a few days, the group decided to let him go.

Nonetheless, the San Diego team decided to re-sign him. He was accepted into their training program. A future contract was also signed.

He was initially placed on injured reserve and spent almost the entire season with the Chargers before being released.

A few weeks later, he was added to the Oakland Raiders practice squad. Finally, the Raiders released him in 2016.

Career As a Television Personality

Despite his lack of success as a football player, Underwood rose to prominence as a television personality. He gained widespread attention after appearing on The Bachelorette’s 14th season.

Colton’s endearing appearance, toned physique, and athletic background helped him gain a sizable fan base.

Becca Kufrin, a publicist, played the lead in the fourteenth season. She also won the 22nd season of The Bachelor.

Apart from that, the tight end for the NFL had a smooth journey up until week eight.

He was, however, chosen for the fifth season of Bachelor in Paradise. He then played the main character in the 23rd season of the ABC series. While some fans were ecstatic about his lead announcement, many others weren’t.

The ex-athlete is not wed at the moment. But he does plan to get married as he is currently engaged to his Fiance Jordan C. Brown.
