Career

After that, he played minor league baseball for the Minnesota Twins and New York Mets up until March 1, 2006, when he announced his initial retirement from the sport due to a lack of interest.

Bret was named the Victoria Seals’ manager on March 9, 2010, in the Golden Baseball League.

However, after only four games in command, the Seals announced Boone’s decision to permanently leave the team in order to deal with “family problems.”

He participated in Major League Baseball for fifteen seasons with a variety of organizations, compiling an incredible 1,780 game total.266 batting average, 252 home runs, and 1,021 RBI.

Bret also took part in two Home Run Derbys, was named an All-Star three times and won the Gold Glove award four times.

Steroids Controversy

In his 2005 book Juiced, Cuban-American former Major League Baseball outfielder Jose Canseco charged Boone with using performance-enhancing drugs.

In the autobiographical book, he asserts that during a 2001 spring training game, Bret’s body astounded him. He makes it clear that they discussed Bret’s physical maintenance routine.

Boone, meanwhile, has denied using steroids or talking to Jose about them.

Furthermore, it appears that Jose’s assertions have been refuted without any concrete evidence.

Bret Boone’s father is former MLB catcher and manager Bob Boone. His grandfather, Ray Boone, also participated in Major League Baseball.
