Austin had a 30.9 point, 12.4 rebounds, and 5.4 blocks per game average as a senior. He was ranked as the nation’s 25th-best player and 7th-best small forward in 2007.

In 33 games, Austin averaged 10.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.0 assists, winning the hearts of many during his first year at Gonzaga.

He was also given the honor of being named to the WCC All-Freshman Team and All-WCC Honorable Mention. During his second season, he too won the same prize.

Career as a Professional

In the NBA Draft of 2009, the Detroit Pistons selected Austin Daye with the number 15 pick overall.

On August 7, 2009, he joined the Pistons and began his professional debut after agreeing to a rookie scale deal.

Daye committed to Khimki of the Russian Basketball League in late September 2011 for two months.

On account of the NBA lockout’s end, he did, however, join the Pistons once more in December 2011.

He was later traded to the Memphis Grizzles on August 1, 2013, as part of a three-way deal. Daye joined the Toronto Raptors on January 30 of the same year.

On February 20, 2014, Daye was exchanged for Nando de Colo in a trade with the San Antonio Spurs.

Daye was assigned to the Austin Toros on March 15, 2014, however, he was called back the next day.

Additionally, he defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves on January 10, 2015, scoring a season-high 22 points and pulling down ten rebounds. Sadly, a week after the game, the Spurs waived him.

On February 16, 2015, Austin was purchased by the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League. He also agreed to a 10-day contract with the Atlanta Hawks on March 15, 2015.

Daye later left the Hawks on the same 10-day contract on March 25. He finally decided on a multi-year contract with the Hawks on April 4.

On July 9, 2015, the Hawks released Daye in the same manner. He entered into a contract with the Cleveland Claviers on September 18, 2015, but was let go on October 23.
