Meghan Markle’s miscarriage in 2020, according to Prince Harry, was brought on by the media.
In their Netflix docuseries “Harry & Meghan,” he claimed, “I watched the whole thing. I believe my wife miscarriage because of what the [Daily] Mail did.”
The Duke of Sussex was alluding to the drawn-out legal battle the pair had started in 2019 against The Daily Mail for releasing a letter Meghan Markle wrote to her father, Thomas Markle, in private.
After leaving the royal family earlier that year, the “Suits” actress said she had a miscarriage the first morning they woke up in their Santa Barbara home in July 2020.
“Now, do we absolutely know that the miscarriage was caused, created by that?” Harry states, “Of course, we don’t, but bearing in mind the stress that that caused, the lack of sleep and the timing of the pregnancy, how many weeks in she was, I can say from what I saw, that miscarriage was caused by what they were trying to do to her.”

Jenny Afia, the couple’s attorney, said Markle, 41, was completely focused on the situation. On “Harry & Meghan,” Meghan Markle sobs as she discusses her miscarriage.
“Meghan and I would be texting at 1 a.m. or 3 a.m. her time, she’d be awake, unable to sleep, thinking about this case, and the wider issues and the toll it was taking,” she elaborates.
Her “Suits” co-star Abigail Spencer fought back tears as she recalled meeting the couple the day before in their new Santa Barbara residence and instantly sensing something was off.
While showing her their house, Markle reportedly admitted to Spencer that she was having trouble falling asleep.

Spencer described the incident with emotion, “She was holding Archie and she just fell to the ground.”
In a November 2020 column for the New York Times, Markle opened up about her miscarriage. Also, revealed that it occurred when she was changing the diaper of her son Archie the summer before.
She recalled “I dropped to the floor with him in my arms, humming a lullaby to keep us both calm, the cheerful tune a stark contrast to my sense that something was not right. I knew, as I clutched my firstborn child, that I was losing my second.”

In July 2020, Markle experienced a miscarriage.
Markle said that she clutched her husband’s hand and “kissed his knuckles, wet from both our tears” while they were in the hospital. Markle and Harry also have a daughter named Lilibet.
“Staring at the cold white walls, my eyes glazed over. I tried to imagine how we’d heal,” she wrote.
“Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but talked about by few.”
