In Houston, Texas, Jim Parsons was born on March 24, 1973. He has a younger sister, Julie. Parsons’ father, Milton Joseph “Mickey/Jack” Parsons, Jr., was a lawyer and judge who served as the municipal judge for Pasadena, Texas.

His mother, Judy Ann (née McKnight), was a school teacher. In 2001, Parsons’ father tragically lost his life in a car accident.

Parsons attended Klein Oak High School in Spring, Texas, and graduated in 1991. He earned a bachelor’s degree in theater from the University of Houston in 1995. Later, he transferred to the University of San Diego, where he took a two-year specialization program in classical theater.

After appearing as the Kola-Kola bird in a school production of “The Elephant Child” when he was just 6 years old, Jim was inspired to pursue a career in acting. Jim participated in a school performance of the Michael Frayn play “Noises Off”.
