In 2011, Jimmy Tatro had opened a youtube channel,  LifeAccordingToJimmy with his friend  Christian Pierce. There he uploads comedy skits which are a big hit, especially among the newer generation. He writes, produces, directs, and stars in each of his sketches which have around 2.8 million subscribers.

He worked as a stand-up comedian and performed across the country, from comedy clubs to college campuses. As his fame grew and his work recognized, he was given a minor role in the comedy movie Grown Ups 2. In another 2014 comedy movie,  22 Jump Street,  he starred as Rooster alongside  Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

Jimmy Tatro has also starred in TV series. In Netflix Original series American Vandal, where he plays the role of  Dylan Maxwell.

On November 20^th, 2017, he announced via his social media platform that he was cast in the upcoming animated movie Smallfoot as Thorp. The movie was released in September of 2018.
