Professional Life and Career
Amanda Nunes attended AMA Fight Club while she was a resident of New Jersey. Later, she relocated to Miami to attend MMA Masters’s training.

AFC Invicta
Nunes was supposed to play Milana Dudieva at Invicta FC 2: Baszler vs. McMann in July 2012. However, Dudieva withdrew from the battle because of her condition.
Leslie Smith was supposed to face Amanda Nunes in a later round.
Smith withdrew due to an injury as well, therefore Nunes ended up competing against Raquel Pa’aluhi.

At UFC 163 in Brazil in August 2013, Nunes competed for the first time in the Octagon against Sheila Gaff. She won the bout by KOing the opponent.

Nunes was chosen to replace injured Shayna Baszler in her third fight and promotion to the Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale against Sarah Kaufman.
Nunes had to deal with tougher opposition as the competition increased. Cat Zingano was Nunes’ opponent at UFC 178.
In the first round, Nunes punched Zingano and came very near to knocking her out. However, in the third round, Nunes lost and was eventually defeated by TKO.
At UFC 196 on March 5, 2016, Nunes defeated Valentina Shevchenko by unanimous decision.
Champion at bantamweight
After compiling a three-fight winning streak, The Lioness was granted her first championship chance in the UFC.
She defeated Miesha Tate in a bout by submission early in the first round with knees and punches. She made history in the UFC by becoming the first openly homosexual champion.
Then, in the main event of UFC 207 in late December, Nunes had to defend her championship against Ronda Rousey. She quickly eliminated the diva by TKO.

At UFC 213, during her second championship defense, Nunes scheduled a rematch with Valentina Shevchenko.
However, they were postponed when Nunes was admitted to the hospital the morning before the bout because of a severe sinus infection.
Despite the time apart, Nunes and Shevchenko faced off at UFC 215 in Edmonton, Alberta, in September. Similar to their first encounter, Nunes prevailed through a tight decision.
Nunes defeated Raquel Pennington at UFC 224 by using ground and pound at 2:36 in the fifth round.
It was the first time in UFC history that two homosexual competitors headlined a fight.
Champion at featherweight
Nunes battled Cris Cyborg for the UFC Women’s Featherweight title by working hard and making an effort.
Nunes contributed to the outcome of the contest by eliminating Cyborg in the first round in just 51 seconds.
She has been crowned the new UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion as a result of this victory.
She also became the first woman in UFC history to simultaneously hold title belts in several classes thanks to the victory.

Nunes planned a contest to defend her featherweight belt against Megan Anderson in December 2020.
However, the fight was postponed until 2021 after Nunes withdrew in November owing to an unexplained ailment.
The two competed in UFC 259 on March 6, 2021. After the bout, Nunes had won it through a first-round triangle armbar.
