Tarek El Moussa’s Professional Life, Career and Net Worth
Tarek El Moussa is a real estate investor. He and his ex-wife Christina had started their property-related business called ‘Tarek and Christina: The El Moussa Group’. He had received his license to start his business at the age of 21 years.
Tarek with the help of one of his friends had made an audition tape for HGTV channel about his business. This tape was liked by the network who then asked him to launch his show on their channel.
The agency of Tarek and Christina was doing a roaring business until there occurred a downslide in the housing market. The couple then started buying distressed sale properties and old homes, remodeling them and then reselling them for a profit. The show is all about Tarek’s and his wife’s roller coasters ride in their business and how they manage to keep afloat.
Tarek got money from the TV shows and these shows also gave him exposure and helped him in his sales. Tarek also got offers to host other TV shows such as Carol Duvall.
Tarek’s Personal life and Relationships
Though things were okay and picking up at his career front, there were major issues as regards his health and marital life.
Tarek had married Christina in 2009. They seemed to be leading a happily married life. The couple has two children; Taylor and Brayden.
In 2013, while he was doing the show, one of his fans (a nurse by profession) noticed on the TV show that Tarek had a lump in front of his neck. The viewer called up the producers of the show and told them that Tarek may be having some thyroid problem. On further investigations, Tarek was found to be suffering from thyroid cancer. He battled with this cancer only to be told the same year that he also had testicular cancer. This was followed by his back injury and his split from his wife in December 2016. Tarek was deep into alcohol and also was abusive to his wife. There were communication failures and hence this led to the divorce.
Tarek leaps back
Tarek did not allow the misfortune to get the better of him. He fought back and came out victorious. Talking about those disappointing and unnerving days, Tarek said:
“I’ll never forget the day when I found out I was also diagnosed with testicular cancer. The first thing I thought was I’m going to die and what is my family going to do? That’s how I dealt with it, but you know, the next day, I woke up and felt better and I tried to stay positive. I was just prepared to move forward and do whatever it is I needed to do to fight them and beat them.”
Tarek joined in with Movember Foundation and started sharing his story and increasing awareness about men’s health. He said:
“I thought it would be a good idea to create exposure, share my story and help save some lives.”
He also posted a picture of himself at the time when his life was on the downside.
