Andrea Joyce Kuslits, also known as Andrea Joyce, works for NBC Sports after spending a decade at CBS Sports. She made her ESPN debut while covering the 1988 Summer Olympics.

Early Life

On August 17, 1954, the famous American Sportscaster Andrea Joyce was born into a very sporty family from Detroit, Michigan. Andrea spent most of her youth in Michigan.

Andrea Joyce completed her education in Michigan and received her bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan. She graduated in 1976 after studying speech and communications.

Professional Career

In 1987, Joyce began her professional career. She was a weekend sports anchor for WFAA-TV in Dallas and a field reporter for KMGH-TV in Denver.

The sportscaster has also worked as a news reporter for Wichita, Kansas’ KTVH-TV (now KWCH-DT) and for Detroit’s NBC station WDIV-TV Channel 4.

Andrea Joyce makes her ESPN debut as a reporter at the Seoul Summer Olympics in 1988. She then covered the NFL Draft and the French Open tennis tournament.

In 1988, she presented the MSG Sports Break on the Madison Square Garden Network before joining CBS in 1989.

Joyce made her CBS Sports debut in August 1989, at the 1989 U.S. Open Tennis Championship.

She also co-hosted the weekend and covered the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for CBS during the Lillehammer Games in 1994 and the Nagano Games in 1998.

Andrea Joyce was interviewing USA’s Freestyle skiing-moguls gold medallist, Donna Weinbrecht, after the 1992 Albertville Games when her mother came up and literally pushed Andrea Joyce off the air.

She then served as a field reporter for the 1991 National League Championship Series, the 1991 World Series, and the 1993 World Series, making her the first woman to co-host the World Series on network television.

Joyce presented the 1991 NCAA Division Men’s Basketball Championship, College Football Today (CBS’ college football studio broadcast), and the NCAA Division during her stint at CBS.

Women’s Basketball Championship Final Four, Heisman Trophy Award Show in 1990, and title game coverage from 1991 through 1994.

NBC Sports

Joyce joined NBC Sports in 2000 and has since covered several Olympic and other sporting events.

She covered diving and swimming in the Summer Olympics in Sydney in 2000, and speed skating at the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002.

Joyce was also a correspondent for NBC’s coverage of the Olympic diving and swimming trials in 2000.

She also covered gymnastics and diving at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, as well as figure skating and short track speed skating at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin.

Joyce also worked as an announcer for rhythmic gymnastics in Athens. Andrea Joyce was also the sole female announcer during the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.

During the 2008 Olympics, she worked as a gymnastics reporter and rhythmic gymnastics play-by-play woman.

During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Joyce served as a correspondent for NBC, covering short track and figure skating. She has covered 14 Olympic tournaments in her career, eleven of which she covered for NBC Sports.

Andrea Joyce covered the NBA and WNBA on NBC broadcasts in addition to the Olympics as a reporter.
