Arthel Neville was born on 20 October 1962 in New Orleans, Louisiana, the USA. Her parents are Doris Neville and Art Neville. Art Neville is a famous name in the music world of New Orleans. He is a singer, songwriter, keyboardist, who founded The Neville Brothers, The Meters, and The Hawketts. He used to also do solo music and is part of a family of renowned musicians. She has an American nationality and African-American ethnicity.
Arthel was raised in New Orleans and was studying at the St. Mary’s Dominican High School which also is located in New Orleans. After her graduation, she moved to New York and had an ambition to act and model.
After her return from New York, she joined Xavier University and enrolled for pre-pharmacy but soon switched college and her course. She took up studying journalism at the Southern Methodist University and later took a transfer to the University of Texas in Austin where ultimately she managed to get a degree in journalism. Here, she had already started work as a reporter.

After she finished her college studies, she took up a job of a reporter with WWL in New Orleans. She again went to Texas in 1988 and for one year worked for KHOU-TV in Houston. She again went back to New Orleans and anchored shows for WVUE.
In 1991, she got the job of hosting Extreme Close-up show for E! Entertainment TV. She was with the show for three years and did an excellent job including interviewing top celebrities. She also covered live entertainment events and shows. She worked for Extra after this and left it in 1996.
She picked up a job with Fox News Channel as a senior correspondent. She was hosting a number of shows on this channel. She also co-hosted beauty pageants. In 2002 she joined CNN and had her own show on the channel. In 2008, she became the main anchor for Fox 5 Morning News. She had many shows under her belt and was praised highly for her efficient handling of them.
