Not many may be familiar with Ashton Meem. She is the ex-wife of Seattle Seahawks’ quarterback, Russell Wilson. The couple was deeply in love since their high school days and was one of the cutest couples in town. Then what went wrong that led them to split?

Ashton Meem is more than a year older than Russell. She was studying at St. Catherine’s High School which is about 5 miles away from Richmond. Russell at that time was at Collegiate School in Richmond, VA.

He used to play football, baseball, and basketball and was a good player. They met at that time for a brief time. Later destiny played a role and they met again. It was after this that the two started dating each other. Ashton had said in an interview:

When Ashton left to attend the University of Georgia, they still continued their long-distance relationship. After Ashton completed her education, Russell and Ashton decided to get engaged and tie the knot.

Their engagement was held in August 2010. They married in the year 2012; the same year that Russell was to get drafted in the NFL. Their wedding took place on 14 January 2012 at the Country Club of Virginia.

Two months later, Russell was selected in the second round of the draft. After that, Ashton who was with him during the draft became the talk of the town! They seemed happy. But their relationship could not last long. They did not have any children together as well.

In two years, in April 2014, Russell announced that he is filing for divorce from Ashton. He said:

Rumors were afloat that the couple had split since Ashton was allegedly having an affair with Golden Tate, Seahawks wide receiver. Tate at that time issued a statement that he has been unnecessarily dragged into a personal domestic problem of the couple. He again addressed the issue with his girlfriend Elise Pollard. He was surprised that Russell had gone ahead with the divorce without even asking him or talking to him once.

Taking about his failed marriage, Russell said:

“I married the person I was with in high school… that didn’t work out, unfortunately. I just trusted God would do the healing process. I’d gone through some ups and downs.”

Russell moved on and started dating singer Ciara and made his new relationship public in April 2015. He got engaged to her in 2016. When her five-carat engagement ring was displayed on the social media, Ashton immediately changed the profile picture of her Twitter account to the eight-carat ring that Russell had given her during their engagement.

Ashton was born on 6 September 1987 in Richmond, VA. Her parents are Molly and Lang Meem. She is their only child. She was raised in Richmond, VA. Furthermore, there is no information regarding how well did she spend her childhood.
