Professional Life and Career

He and the Chicago Blackhawks reached an agreement on a three-year entry-level contract on October 4, 2011.

He also made history by becoming the first of the draft picks from Chicago chosen last to play in the NHL.

Brandon played admirably in his NHL debut versus the Dallas Stars. He was quickly moved to Saginaw five days later.

Saad was named captain for the remainder of the 2011–12 season after winning the CHL Player of the Week award from October 17–23.

After the OHL season was over, Saad returned to the Chicago Blackhawks team, and on April 19, 2012, he played in his first Stanley Cup playoff game.

On April 21 against the Phoenix Coyotes, he made his debut in the NHL there, helping his team to victory.

Similarly, Saad returned to the American Hockey League (AHL) in September and joined the Rockford IceHogs, where he earned CCM/AHL Player of the Week honors after tallying six points in just three contests.

Fortunately, Saad was able to secure a spot on the Blackhawks’ star-studded roster for the limited 48-game 2012–13 season. His first NHL goal came against San Jose Sharks goalie Anti Niemi.

As the best rookie in the NHL for 2013, Saad was also named a finalist for the 2013 Calder Memorial Trophy on May 6.

After defeating the Boston Bruins in six Finals games that year, the club was awarded the Stanley Cup.

Saad set a career-high during the 2014–15 season with 23 goals and 29 assists for 52 points.

After the squad defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning in six games in 2015, Brandon earned his second Stanley Cup with the group.

Return to Chicago and the Columbus Blue Jackets

After winning the title, Chicago moved Brandon and two other players to the Columbus Blue Jackets in exchange for Jeremy Morin, Marko Dano, Artem Anisimov, Corey Tropp, and the 2016 fourth-round selection pick.

He then agreed to a six-year, $36 million contract deal with the Blues on July 3. He was also chosen for his first All-Star Game that year.

And in April, he scored his first hat trick in the NHL during a 5-1 victory over the Carolina Hurricanes.

But after spending two seasons with the Blues, Brandon joined Anton Forsberg and a fifth-round pick in a return to the Chicago Blackhawks in 2018.
