Professional Life and Career

In 2003, while studying at Harvard University, Cahow played from forward to defenseman as a freshman on the hockey team. she also received the Joe Bertagna Award for the most improved player as a sophomore.

She also played for the U.S. women’s hockey team and won a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics and the gold medal at the 2008 International Ice Hockey Federation World Women’s Championship.  Similarly, she also won the USA Hockey Bob Allen Women’s Player of the Year Award.

After graduating, she joined the Minnesota Whitecaps of the Western Women’s Hockey League for the 2008-09 season.

Moreover, she also played for the Boston Blades. In 2012, she suffered a pair of concussions that took a tremendous emotional and physical toll while playing in the Canadian Women’s Hockey League (CWHL). She returned to the ice the following season and helped the Blades become the first American team to win the league championship and took retirements in 2013.
