She also hosted her own late-night syndicated program on BBC London 94.9. White started working as a reporter at Radio 1 Newsbeat and its sister digital station BBC Radio 1Xtra in 2002. After three years in 2005, she teamed up with DJ G Money as a presenter on 1Xtra’s two-hour news, magazine and documentary program TX.
In 2008, Charlene joined ITN to work as a newscaster for the ITV News at 5:30 on ITV. Furthermore, she would present three short opts which aired as part of GMTV which later became Daybreak for ITV News London on ITV London. In 2012 October 10th, she discontinued these roles but still remained as a presenter of ITV News London‘s main 6 pm program.
On 9 April 2014, White became the first black woman to present ITV News at Ten. Occasionally, Sharlene co-presented this until October 2015.
