Keith Farrell Cozart who is popularly called Chief Keef is an American rapper and record producer who had led to a bidding war among music labels. That high is his fame and popularity! He is known not only for his music but also for his various trysts with the law. Chief Keef’s birth and early life

Chief Keef was born on 15 August 1995 in Chicago, Illinois, and is now 22 years of age. His mother was just 16 when she delivered Chief Keef. His father, Alfonso Cozart deserted them and Chief Keef used to reside with his grandmother in Chicago in his childhood.  He used to use his mother’s (Lolita Carter) karaoke machine and blank tapes to rap and record it in his growing years.

He attended Dulles Elementary School and the therapeutic day school called Banner School. He was studying at Dyett High School when at the age of 15, he dropped out. There are no details about his siblings available. He has African-American ethnicity.

Chief Keef’s rapping career

Chief Keef loved to rap at a very young age. Music was his passion and he developed it over the years. In 2010, he started making mixtapes. These got him the attention of Chicago’s South Side community. High school students became his fans.

He created his own YouTube account and posted several music videos on it. People used to be happy with his happiness and his fans now included small children as well. Kanye West created a remix of one of Chief Keef’s song and this further pushed up his popularity.

The summer of 2012 was great for Keef since record labels were bidding heavily for him. He signed with Interscope Records and released his debut album called Finally Rich in December 2012. He was in 2013 in XXL Magazine’s Freshman class. He featured in Kanye West’s videos and collaborated with other music artists as well. He also released his mixtape Bang, Pt. 2 on his birthday in 2013. The response was a mixed one. In October 2013, another mixtape titled Almighty Sosa was released.

He made and released more mixtapes and experimented with music. He believed more on vibes rather than on meaning in music creation. He released his EP and started work on his second album. Interscope dropped him in October 2014.

In June 2018, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was taped ordering to shoot Chief. Tekashi has since been jailed. In January 2019, he snitched that the associate in his crime is Kintea McKenzie.

His retirement

In March 2016, Keef announced his retirement from rapping. However, he quickly returned to music once his mixtapes started selling. His third album called Dedication was released in December 2017. It was named as the ‘most satisfying’ album to date.

His legal issues

Keef has been no stranger to legal issues. He has been facing the law since his teenage years. He has been charged on different occasions for possession of heroin, weed, unlicensed gun, and violence. In September 2017, he had a minor car accident and was arrested for driving on a suspended driving license. He did not attend court and an arrest warrant was issued in his name. There have been charges of suspected murders against him.

He has also violated parole. He has been imprisoned several times and also had been under house arrest at his grandmother’s home when he was young.

He has also been involved with several controversies in his life such as posting an obscene picture on his social media, threats, and physical assaults. He was also sued for refusal of child support to his baby mamas.

His personal life

Chief Keef has been into multiple unnamed relationships. He fathered a daughter with a middle school girl when he was a mere 16 years old. He also had another daughter in 2013. In September 2014, he had his third child and first son (Krue Cozart). In May 2015, he was sued by another woman who claimed that he was the father of her child. He named this child Sno Cozart. His daughters are called Kimora and Kayden Cozart.

He is not married. He now resides in LA and believes that it is a quiet place and the move has benefitted him. He said:

“I got away from all the unnecessary trouble. It’s better out here [in L.A.] than in Chicago, because I got in so much trouble. I like living out here. I think it improved me. It changed me, and [inspired] me to go somewhere bigger.”
