Chip Hailstone lives a life which most of us would dread to live. He is one of the 6 families whose lifestyle is documented and aired on the National Geographic Channel’s reality TV series titled Life Below Zero. The modern times may consider his life primitive but it is also quite a challenging one.

When Chip was 19, he visited Alaska which was in 1988. He had meant to return but his visit became a permanent stay in Noorvik which was a small Alaskan city consisting of approximately 700 inhabitants.
Chip met his sweetheart
After spending some years in Alaska living in that extreme of climate, Chip met another hunter named Agnes. She was a native Alaskan and hailed from Inupiat. They soon became friends and then lovers. They later got married. There has been no disclosure about their exact date of the wedding but it could probably be in the mid-1990s.
Chip’s wife Agnes was born in 1972 and is 3 years younger than her husband. The couple continued to live now together in Noorvik and now have five children. They have daughters named Tinmiaq, Iriqtaq, Mary, Caroline, and Qutan.

Iriqtaq also has a kid.
Chip’s wife Agnes and her children from the previous relationship
Agnes has two sons from a previous relationship. They are called Douglas and Jon. These two are also full-time hunters like Chip. Douglas is the elder son who was born in the 1980s and is now married to Gloria Iyatunguk and the couple has 5 children. Jon also is a married man with kids.
The family mainly resides in Noorvik near the Kobuk River. They migrate seasonally to be in the wild. The Hailstones hunt for food and consume the game hunted. They utilize the non-edible parts of the animals to create some craft and arts which they trade for money. But most of the trade is as a barter system where no money is involved. Chip has a net worth of $ 100000.
The case for which Chip was trialed dates back to July 2011 where he was convicted of two counts of perjury and a count of providing false information to the police officers. It is said that an Alaska state Trooper Christopher Bitz had physically assaulted his then-17-year-old daughter, Tinmiaq.
He filed for a restraining order against the trooper since his family feared for their lives. But instead, he was accused of perjury. He was told to serve 3 years of probation. He appealed but lost. In 2018, he would have to go behind bars in the Anchorage Correctional Complex.
It has been clarified that even during his incarceration, his family would continue to film the show.
Chip is absent on social media such as Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram.
