Nischelle Turner was born on 11 February 1975 in Columbia, Missouri. She is of African-American ethnicity. She was named after the Star Treks star, Nichelle Nichols. She was raised on a farm with her single mom, Jacque, and an extended family. After completing her high school, Nischelle decided to go and join the University of Kentucky.

She finished her freshman year there but had to return back to Missouri for some reason. She then joined the University of Missouri and completed her degree in journalism from there in 1998.

Nischelle Turner’s career

After she graduated, Nischelle worked as an anchor and reporter with ABC’s Evansville affiliate. She later went over to be with WVUE (Fox affiliate in New Orleans) and served as an anchor, reporter, and contributor for their sports show called Fox8 Sports Sunday.

Nischelle Turner first joined KTTV ROX 11 as a general assignment reporter in the year 2004. She also hosted ‘EXTRA on essence’ and was the weekend host of ‘Good Day LA’ on Fox Channel (KTTV). Here she was also handling sports duties and had reported on USC men’s basketball team and their 2007 run to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.

In 2007, she was posted as a sideline reporter for FOX NFL Sunday. In 2008, she took up additional responsibilities of covering College Baseball and Major League Baseball. She then worked as an entertainment correspondent for KNBC in LA. In December 2011, Nischelle Turner took over as the entertainment correspondent for ‘Showbiz Tonight’ and CNN.

In October 2014, Nischelle also joined ‘Entertainment Tonight’ as a correspondent and substitute anchor.

She continued to shoulder the responsibilities of a sideline reporter for NBA on TNT and NBA TV.

She does red carpet coverage of Grammys, Golden Globes, and Oscars for CNN. Her interviews of the entertainment industry bigwigs were very much appreciated. She received accolades for her work.  She was also one of the hosts of the daily strip ‘Best Life Now’ for Oprah Winfrey’s OWN. She is an Emmy award winner.

Nischelle comes from a very closely knitted extended family. She is Godmother to one of her aunt’s daughter whom she thoroughly loves. She does active social work. She is also a board member of the LA-based ‘Good News Foundation’ which is a group of newswomen who believe in bringing good news to the area.

But when she had the courage to ask him out on a date, Common had already started seeing someone else.
