A basketball lover would know Dell Curry. He is a former professional basketball player and father of the present NBA players namely Stephen and Seth Curry. He is now a color commentator who is a favorite and successful in the broadcasting industry as well.
Going through his early days and birth, we find that Dell is a Virginia-born kid. His birth happened on 25 June 1964 and he was raised in Harrisonburg and Grottoes. He played basketball for his high school in Fort Defiance. He was a regular at practice. He was a lead scorer who won various titles and awards. Though he was also good at baseball, he was ultimately selected by Texas Rangers in the 1982 Major League Baseball draft.

Dell and his career-NBA
Dell was drafted in 1986 and picked up by Utah Jazz. The next year he was traded to Cleveland Cavaliers. In 1988, he was taken up by the new team Charlotte Hornets. He remained with them for 10 seasons. He was one season with Milwaukee Bucks and 3 seasons with Toronto Raptors before retiring.
He was a good three-point shooter but he has admitted that his son Steph is better than him and he is proud of it. His career averages of 11.7 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. He was inducted into Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. He started in 2009 as a color commentator for Charlotte Hornets. He has a net worth of $ 8 million.
Talking about his career in NBA and how it had picked up, Dell said:
“Especially towards the end of my career, it gave me new life. We had a great team. I just did an appearance with Tracy, Oak [Charles Oakley], Antonio Davis, Junkyard Dog [Jerome Williams], and Muggsy [Bogues]. We talked about how we were such a veteran team that we could actually coach ourselves. Everyone was so knowledgeable about the game, and we knew each other.”
When asked whether he could still shoot, Dell had replied:
“Absolutely. I can hang with Steph in a game of H-O-R-S-E, as long as it’s indoors. I got beat outdoors. I’ll be able to shoot, I think, until I can’t walk. Now, the next day I’m sore all over. I can’t do it two days in a row. But I can still shoot. Absolutely.”
Dell Curry personal life
Dell met Sonya Adams at Virginia Tech where she played volleyball. They started dating and tied the knot soon after. They have three children-son Stephen, son Seth, and daughter Sydel who is a volleyball player like her mother. The family resides in Charlotte, NC, and is a happy family.
He is proud of his kids’ achievements on the field. Of Stephen, he said:
“As a father, you’re so proud, especially as an ex-player, knowing how hard it is to get to that level, to stay that consistent.”
