Doris Burke and her childhood and college days

Doris Burke was born as Doris Sable on 24 November 1965 in West Islip, New York, the USA. Her family moved to New Jersey and she was raised in Manasquan there. She is the youngest of 8 children of her parents.

She inclined sports right from her small age and had commenced playing basketball when she was in the second grade. At Manasquan High School, she played as a point guard and she was recruited by several eastern colleges. At Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island, where she studied, Doris was a member of the Providence Friars women’s basketball team and played as a point guard. She was good at assists and when she completed her college, she was a leader in assists. She did her bachelor’s degree in health service administration/social work and later did a Master’s in Education.

Doris Burke and her broadcasting career

In 1990, Doris started working as an analyst for radio for women’s games at her college. She soon bagged a post of a TV analyst where she commented on Big East Women’s games. In 1996, she began to give comments on Big East Men’s games. She has been doing the broadcasting for ESPN for WNBA. She is also the main voice on radio and TV for New York Liberty.

In 2000, she became a commentator for the New York Knicks game and was the first woman to do so for radio and TV. She ventured into this male-dominated field at a time when it was unheard of. Since 2009, she also is a sideline commentator cum reporter for ABC Sports and reports on NBA finals.

She was also featured in some video games. In October 2013, she became the NBA commentator for ESPN. Since 2017, she is a regular game analyst for them. She was the first woman to take up this role full-time. As a broadcaster, Doris earns a decent amount of money and her net worth is estimated to be $ 6 million.

Doris Burke marriage, husband, children, divorce, affair

Doris Burke was married to Gregg Burke in 1989. They have two children; a son and a daughter. They subsequently divorced. The date of the divorce is not known.

The Drake incident

Rapper Drake who is known for his multiple affairs had a crush on Doris. During a game in 2016, he was sitting in front of her and made a heart shape with his hands and sent it to Doris twice. She was stunned and did not know what was going on.

He even wore a T-shirt with her face on it and written ‘Woman Crush every day’.  He even asked her out for dinner which supposedly she accepted. But it seems that it was fun both ways and there was no seriousness in the relationship and talk. Doris refused to give more details on it. Drake had said at that time:
