After his graduation, Eric Villency first took up a job in the finance department. But here he could not give vent to his creativity and found the work suffocating and boring.
He then took to modeling before the realization dawned on him that it was best to work with his dad. He said:
“I used to make fun of my father growing up because he was always feeling the sides of chairs. Now I find myself doing that all the time. I don’t know: maybe it’s an acquired taste. O maybe it was getting my own apartment and my own things that opened my eyes to discovering my design sense. Whatever it was, my decision was pretty clear.”
Eric is the grandson of Maurice Villency who had founded the Villency Design Group. Eric is the head, President, and CEO of this Maurice Villency which is a furniture chain. He also hosts the Idesign on the Fine Living Television network and it is a weekly program.
Eric Villency is the heir of the entire Villency Empire which is a 75-year-old firm. He was named the most influential designer to watch by Inc Magazine and also was given the title of The Wizard of Wellness. He was honored with the FIT ‘All-star salute’ award in 2001. This award is for those who excel in the field of design and fashion. Under his leadership, there were more stores launched.
One of the stores dealt with home accessories collection. He was also invited for a lecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design. He also launched more business ventures. He also designed the Peloton indoor bike and has been part of the team developing SoulCycle which is an indoor fitness cycle.
