Eugenie Jones is a jazz singer who started singing in the real sense of the word after her mother’s death who was a talented singer. Talking of her mother the late Tommie Parker, Eugenie said:

“She had an incredibly beautiful voice. Even when she wasn’t in church and she was cooking and doing things around the house, she was always singing.”

Eugenie Jones and her singing career

Eugenie entered the world of jazz quite late in her life but she managed to form an impressive discography. She migrated to the Pacific Northwest and was a family person engaged in marketing and business when she also decided to do music in order to keep the warmth and memories of her mother near and alive.

Her songs and performances were so brilliant that within a short span of time, she also bagged a number of jazz awards. Her 2013 debut album called Black Lace Blue Tears was self-produced. She soon topped the jazz music charts and became the Vocalist of the Year in 2016. She also attended several prestigious jazz festivals including the Atlanta Jazz Festival in the year 2016.

Talking about her entry into music, Eugenie had said:

“I wasn’t a young prodigy or an artist who began very early in life. But I did listen and undoubtedly was influenced by my mother’s singing lead in a choir while directed by my father. At home, it was Nancy Wilson, my dad’s Ray Charles and my older sister’s Motown sounds all coming together to form the framework that is foundational to my music experience.”

She had in 2016 spoken about what her life balance is. She said:

“I no longer teach or write a weekly wellness column for the newspaper, but I do still work out myself (5 a.m. most days). I also work full-time in community relations and marketing for a non-profit and periodically as adjunct faculty, I teach marketing at Western Washington University on the Peninsulas. Most importantly, I’m a hands-on, committed mother to my children. With it all, I do work to keep balance in my life and music is a part of that balance. It has become an integral part of who I am and I can’t imagine my life without it.”
