Tina Fey was born as Elizabeth Stamatina Fey on 18 May 1970 in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, the USA to Xenobia ‘Jeanne’, a brokerage employee, and Donald Henry Fey, who used to write grant proposals for universities. Her mother is of Greek origin while her father belongs to German, Northern Irish, and English ancestry. She has an elder brother named Peter Fey who is 8 years older than her.

After her high school (Upper Darby High School) and college, she joined the University of Virginia to study drama. She graduated in 1992 and shifted to Chicago to hone her skills in comedy.

Professional Career, YMCA, co-host

Tina Fey used to work at the YMCA to support herself. She was also learning the first set of courses at Second City. Seeing her talent, one of her teachers advised her to skip and move ahead with learning more specific courses. She was successful during the second audition and managed the one-year program. But she somehow continued at Second City for many years and met many of the future SNL cast members there. After submitting some sketch comedies, she was chosen and became the first female writer on the SNL show. She was also shorter and younger of the group there.

She also got an opportunity to co-host Weekend Update with Jimmy Fallon. She also debuted on Aspen Comedy Festival. Her trademarks were her black plastic-rimmed glasses and she has played characters that have an embarrassing addiction to junk food.
