Gerry was the leader of the 1960s rock group Gerry and the Pacemakers, which also consist of his brother Freddie Marsden. The group was formed in the late ’50s featuring himself on guitar and lead vocals, Les Chadwick on bass, his brother Fred on drums, and Arthur Mack on piano (to be replaced in 1961 by Les Maguire).

After that, he appeared in the Tv shows called named Ferry Cross the Mersey (1965), The Compleat Beatles (1982), and Matt And Gerry Ltd (Since 1975).
