His song “Dame un Beso” was fairly successful, but his sister Selena’s skill was acknowledged. He produced ‘Live,’ which won the Grammy for ‘Best Mexican American Album,’ and ‘Amor Prohibido,’ which helped her break into the Latin music market, in 1993 and 1994, respectively. This album spent 78 weeks at the top of the ‘Top Latin Albums’ chart.

With the band ‘Kumbia Kings,’ he returned to the music industry, creating music that was a blend of traditional cumbia, hip hop, and R&B.
