Miranda Hart’s birth, age, parents, early life, school and growing up

Miranda Hart was born as Miranda Katherine Hart Dyke on 14 December 1972 in Torquay, Devon to Captain David Hart Dyke and Diana Margaret Luce. Her father was a hero. He was the commanding officer of the warship HMS Coventry which was attacked and sunk by the Argentinians during the 1982 Falklands Conflict.

David was severely burned while attempting an escape. Miranda also has a younger sister called Alice Louisa Hart Dyke who is 3 years younger to her.

Miranda Hart has aristocratic roots but does not like talking about it. She is also a distant cousin of the late Lady Diana, Princess of Wales. Miranda’s family moved to Petersfield, Hampshire when she was a child. She studied in a boarding school called Downe House, Berkshire. Miranda had said in an interview:

“My father was in the navy and worked abroad, which is why I went to boarding school. I went to university but actually it’s a regret, because I did a course I wasn’t interested in. It took a while to build my confidence back up.”

Miranda career started as she performed solo in Edinburg in 2002 and also a comedy show for BBC in 2004. She was seen in ‘Not Going Out’ and her role was quite impressive. The producers wrote the role of a clumsy cleaner called Barbara for her. In 2009, she was able to win her show called Miranda. Miranda also appeared in Hyperdrive (2006-2007) as Teal which won her nomination for the British Comedy Award.

Miranda Hart has also done many smaller roles in TV and films. The BBC Two sitcom ‘Miranda’ is written by her and is semi-autobiographical. It received rave reviews and also 2009 Royal Television Society award for comedy. She has also hosted Have I Got News For You.
