He and his brother Seth used to accompany father to the games and do a lot of shooting practice. When the family moved to Ontario, Stephen used to play basketball there also. Later when the family returned to Charlotte, Stephen joined the Charlotte Christian School. He took his team to a win and also earned a number of titles for his team and self. He then joined Davidson College (2006-2009).
Stephen also has a younger sister named Sydel who plays volleyball for Elon University. Seth is also a professional basketball player.
