Gucci Mane weds Keyshia Ka’oir
American rapper Gucci Mane married his longtime girlfriend Keyshia Ka’oir on 17 October 2017. Gucci had met Keyshia on the sets of one of his music videos in 2010. The couple started dating soon after. Keyshia is Fitness CEO on the Kiss Cam. Gucci Mane had proposed to Keyshia during his performance at the at the Atlanta Hawks basketball game in November 2016.
The wedding celebration was a pompous and star-studded one held at the Four Seasons, Miami and cost the couple a whopping $ 1.7 million. The newly-weds announced about it on their social media. Keyshia, 32 was in an off-white gown which was studded with crystals and floral patterns. She had adorned an elegant, silver flower crown and earnings.
Her hair was styled into a high bun. She was carrying a bejeweled bouquet. Gucci Mane was sporting a crisp white tuxedo with a sparkling bowtie and silver studs. The couple’s relatives and close friends attended the function.
To top it all, the couple had arranged for a $ 75000 10 feet tall cake which they cut with a sword. It was made by Edda’s Cake design who told TMZ that it indeed was the biggest cake they had ever produced. They disclosed that it had taken 3 months of planning with 3 days for baking and was adorned with 8000 handmade sugar flowers and 2500 Swarovski crystals. This cake was layered with red velvet, amaretto, carrot, banana nut, and Jamaican rum cake.
It is not known whether Gucci’s 10-year-old son from a previous relationship attended the function. The cost of the wedding and the cake would be covered by BET.com who has taken the rights of broadcasting the wedding in a 10 episodes show. They will also be paying the couple $650k to air a special event called as The Mane Event!
Gucci Mane’s birth and troubled childhood
Gucci Mane was born as Radric Delantic Davis on 12 February 1980 in Bessemer, Alabama. His father Ralph Everett Dudley was a former US serviceman and power plant worker while his mother Vicky Jean Davis was a social worker and teacher. He had an older half-brother called Victor from his mother’s previous relationship. During his birth, Gucci’s father was on the run on drug-related charges.
His early upbringing was by his paternal grandmother. He attended Jonesboro Elementary School. Victor introduced Davis to hip-hop by taking him to specific concerts. His father had two more children with another woman. Gucci later attended Cedar Grove Elementary School. He fell into drug peddling with Victor. He later joined Ronald E. McNair High School.
He had several life-threatening encounters with the drug gangs and lords and started carrying a handgun for self-defense. He graduated from high school in 1998. He took a computer programming course at George Perimeter College on a scholarship but was kicked out in 2001 due to non-attendance and drug crime. He was sent to jail.
Gucci Mane’s career
Gucci used to rap since the age of 14. After his arrest, he took to writing poetry seriously and released La Flare on Str8 Drop Records. He started his own record label called LaFlare Entertainment in 2002. He released a song and in 2005, his debut album called Trap House. It was on the Billboards top 20 lists. He made more singles and albums, most of which were appreciated. He did mixtapes and other projects as well.
In 2013, he did some controversial tweets. He was imprisoned but he released more albums from prison. On 26 May 2016, he was released from prison. He kept releasing more songs and albums after that. He also entered into the acting line in 2012. In 2016, he started his own clothing line.
Gucci Mane had a lot of negative forces in his life but he continued to move ahead and used the negative energy to energize his own life and achieve success.
