Gwendoline Christie rose to international prominence after her portrayal of Brienne of Tarth on Game of Thrones.
She famously submitted her name and received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2019 Emmys when HBO did not.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, the actress explained her decision.
Although she did not win an Emmy, her daring move made headlines. In reality, much has been said about her job, but relatively little about her personal life.
The actress tries to keep her personal life hidden from prying eyes in the media, leaving admirers to wonder,
Gwendoline Christie, Is She Married?
Christie is not married, to the best of my knowledge. She has, however, been in a long-term relationship with Giles Deacon, one of the most sought-after British designers, since 2012.
Deacon graduated from London’s elite St. Martin’s College of Art and Design and has since clothed a slew of celebrities, including Cate Blanchett, Solange Knowles, and Sarah Jessica Parker.
But the peak of his career came when he was allowed to outfit a member of the royal family.
When Pippa Middleton married hedge fund manager James Matthews in 2017, the designer made a lace wedding gown for her.
Christie has also been dressed by Deacon. In 2016, he told The Telegraph that she was the key inspiration for his first couture collection. Working with his partner was a delight, he continued, and she was a “wonderful muse.”
Aside from being a terrific muse for his creation, the designer said to Grazia UK that he was head over heels in love with his spouse.
“I met Gwendoline through a mutual friend six years ago and was instantly smitten.” I felt she was exceptional for a million different reasons. “Her demeanor was unlike anything I’d seen before,” the designer told the magazine.
Gwendoline Christie is a fan of her partner
While Deacon enjoys making things for Christie, the actress enjoys wearing his creations and is very supportive of her spouse.
In 2015, she told InStyle that she was wearing Deacon’s dress from the Spring/Summer 2016 collection, which would be displayed at London Fashion Week.
“I have complete faith in him as an artist.” He’s one of my favorite designers, and he combines a remarkable artistic vision with a well-developed discipline. That type of artist is uncommon, and I believe it should be recognized,” she continued.
They frequently collaborate. Deacon made two gowns for Christie’s performance as Titania and Hippolyta in a new version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at London’s Bridge Theater.
She told Vogue that “having her strength and Giles’ strength” enabled her to take the stage and tell her experience.
