James Franco’s ‘workaholism’
James Franco is a multi-talented celebrity. He is an author, director, artist, Ph.D. student, and professor. His hands are full with projects in 2017. He has 17 projects lined up to be completed. He is also converting one of his novels into a movie. He will be cast in an HBO series and also would be directing eight of its episodes.
He is featured on the cover page of the recent GQ Australia. He gave an account of his work addiction to GQ Australia Magazine. He said:
“I really had a moment of crisis. I hit a wall.”
This had happened in November 2016 when realization dawned on James Franco that he was overexerting himself. James Franco explained:
“It was a gradual thing. I hadn’t been in a relationship in a long time and was, like, realizing how much I was running from feelings and people. And how much of my identity was wrapped up in work.”

As he took some time off to ponder over, it struck him that he was using work as an excuse to run away from people, emotions, and feelings. That was also the reason why he was keeping himself busy 24 hours a day.
James Franco feels that our culture supports and validates work addiction. He said:
“We reward hard work and success. But it can really mask addictive, escapist behavior.”
He continued:
“The curse of that is that I actually couldn’t enjoy my success,”
James Franco’s resolution for change
As he approaches the age of 40, James Franco feels that he should enjoy life in a better way. He should enjoy the fruits of his labor. James Franco said:
“What I’m really conscious of is that I realize what a great life I have, so I’m truly trying to be grateful,”
He knows it might be difficult at first, but he is determined to bring in the change in himself. He said:
“I’m sure, like anything you’re addicted to, letting that go is difficult because it’s a coping mechanism to make you feel good.”

James Franco feels that he was initially incapable of sharing his heart and settling down with someone. He had decided to ‘self-care’. He plays tennis now and would love to learn surfing. He wants to do these things not for a profession but only for enjoyment. James Franco said:
“And it seems to me like I’m learning lessons a lot of people learned when they were 18. But whatever. Better late than never.”
He does feel the impact on him of this changed approach towards life. He said:
“I’m feeling a lot better, dude. I can honestly say I’m really happy.”
James Franco’s teenage days
Earlier this month, James Franco opened about his teenage depression and addictions. James Franco had troubles growing up. He had landed into problems due to his drinking, graffiti, and sale of stolen perfume and cologne bottles.
He was arrested and he self-realized that he needed a change and took up acting. He got addicted to this kind of work. Though his life was seemingly good, he was lonely, isolated and depressed. He struggled and battled with this depression and conquered it.

Amongst his different works, James Franco enjoys the direction job the most since it provides him with an opportunity to be in the midst of and in the company of creative people. He said that though he was a bit nervous about directing sex scenes, the presence of fearless artists such as Maggie Gyllenhaal makes things easier for him.
James Franco would be featured on the cover page of the September issue of the OUT Magazine. We wish this great entertainer the best for his projects!

Actress Busy Philipps has accused James of physically assaulting her by shoving her to the ground and called him a “f—ing” bully. They were co-stars in the 1999 TV series “Freaks and Geeks.”
Busy writes in her upcoming memoir “This Will Only Hurt a Little,”
“He grabbed both my arms and screamed in my face, ‘DON’T EVER TOUCH ME AGAIN! And he threw me to the ground. Flat on my back. Wind knocked out of me.”
Franco then stormed off and the next day he apologized after the director and producers asked him to but were never punished for his behavior.
Franco has been accused by 5 women of sexual misconduct but Franco denies there claims.
Busy revealed a horrifying tale on September 27- she was raped at the age of 14.
“It’s taken me 25 years to say those words. I finally told my parents and sister about it 4 months ago. Today is the day we are silent no more. All of us. I’m scared to post this. I can’t imagine what Dr. Ford is feeling right now.”
