James Roday is an American actor, director, and screenwriter whose full name is James David Rodriguez. He gained recognition for his role in USA Network’s series called Psych.

James Roday’s early life and childhood
Going through his bio, we see that James was born on 4 April 1976 and his birthplace is San Antonio in Texas. He is now 42 years of age and his father’s name was Jaime Rodriguez while his mother was Irene. He has a mixed ethnicity; Mexican from his father’s side and English, Scottish, and Irish from his mother’s side.
His father was with the Air Force and was a retired Air Force Master Sergeant. He used to be the regional catering manager for Taco Cabana.
James studied at the Taft High School in San Antonio. He also later studied theater at New York University’s Experimental Theater Wing. He has a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts. When he was 22, he chose the name James Roday for himself since there was another James Rodriguez working in the entertainment field at that time.
James and his career start
In the beginning, James started with working with the theater and was seen in many plays at that time such as Three Sisters, A Reasonable Wedding, and Severity’s Mistress. He also had leading roles in several plays and had also produced some of them. He had also founded his own theater company which he called Red Dog Squadron. Through this company, he used to not only produce but also write and direct his own plays and one-act plays as well.
James had this strong foundation in play acting and directing. He later moved to TV and films but in December 2016, he again was seen in the New York production of White Rabbit Red Rabbit.
His first film role was in 1999 in Coming Soon movie. He was also cast in the 2003 film called Rolling Kansas and in a film in 2005 which was actually a film adaptation of Dukes of Hazzard. He was the co-screenwriter for Skinwalkers. He also wrote several other film scripts either alone or with a team.
His first direction of a feature film was in 2013 and the film was called Gravy. He is also working on a horror film called Treehouse.

He also did a number of TV series such as Miss Match in 2003, First Years in 2001, and his breakthrough role was in Psych which gave him the much-deserved fame and name. He did several TV and independent films after Psych ended. His net worth is estimated to be $ 3 million.

James is not married. He was in a relationship before and was dating his Psych co-star Maggie Lawson. But their relationship which started in 2006 saw the end in 2014 when the series completed its run. He has no children and no known relationships at the moment.
