Jason Maxiell is an American professional basketball player. He played for Detroit Pistons and retired last year in August. He has played for NBA and also at an international level in China and Turkey.

Jason Maxiell birth, age, family, school, early life, and career foundation

Jason Maxiell was born on 18 February 1983 in Chicago, Illinois. He is 35 years old now and there is information lacking about his parents and siblings. Jason studied at the Newman Smith High School and after his graduation in 2001 joined the University of Cincinnati. He played basketball for his college from 2001 to 2005 and his coach was Bob Huggins.

Jason Maxiell was a brilliant basketball player. He earned many prestigious awards and honors while at play. He received the Conference USA Sixth Man title and also as a freshman he had earned the All-Freshman team honors. Jason was also conferred with All-Conference USA second-team honors during his junior and senior years. In 2004-2005, his position was on 18 and had also made some records at play. He had also played 129 consecutive games during his college time.

Jason was selected by the Detroit Pistons and was 26th overall pick during the 2005 NBA draft. He signed the contract as a rookie and in 2008 he had a fresh 4-year contract with them which was worth $ 20 million.

In 2013, he signed with Orlando Magic and this was for two years but it was waived off in 2014. The same year, he signed with Charlotte Hornets.

Jason Maxiell and his international play

On 10 August 2015, Jason signed a contract with the Tianjin Ronggang of the Chinese Basketball Association. The next year he played for Tropang TNT of the Philippine Basketball Association. He was basically chosen to play at the 2016 PBA Governor’s Cup. But he could not play for it since he was deemed unfit for the game due to his excess height. Jason’s height is 6 feet and 7 inches and the maximum allowed height was said to be 6 feet and 5 inches.

On 30 January 2017, Jason joined the Turkish second-tier team Acibadem Universitesi. He then signed a contract with the Detroit Pistons again in August which gave him the permission to retire as their member.

“Jason and his representatives reached out to us regarding his desire to sign one last contract with the team in order to retire as a Detroit Piston. Jason made an impact on and off the court with the organization, spending eight seasons in Detroit, many with deep playoff runs. We’re pleased that Jason has chosen to remain connected to our organization and wish him well in the future.”

Jason had a weight of 118 kg and has played for nearly 12 years from 2005 to 2017. He was mainly a power forward. His net worth is $ 10 million.
