Jo Church who is a lesbian found love in another woman. Her name is Liz Carr and is a disabled actress. Their marriage became a talk of the town as and the media called it a Wheelie Wedding.
The wedding took place on 1 Nov 2010 and as per the law, their wedding is called a Civil Partnership. The function was attended by around 170 guests and most of them were differently-abled people and it was performed on the Mexican Day of the Dead festival.
The reason behind this was, as most of the friends and family of Jo and Liz were dead. So, this civil couple believed that those who are dead will return on Dead Festival to meet us and be a part of the wedding. Liz describing the ceremony, said,
“Our two bridesmen wheeled side by side down the aisle to the lyrics, ‘Here come the girls…’ and escorted by our moms, myself and Jo followed behind to the Angry Anderson classic Suddenly – the wedding song of Scott and Charlene in Neighbours. And so the ceremony began.”
Talking about Liz Carr, she was born in April 1972, in Wirral, Cheshire, England. When she was seven years old, a rare disease which is known as Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC). Her parents did everything but after four years of treatment also this disease was not cured. Since then Liz is using a wheelchair as support.
But this never stopped Liz Carr to grab her success. She went to the University Of Nottingham and graduated from the same. Now Liz is a successful actress and plays the role of Clarissa Mullery in a popular crime drama series Silent Witness. Her other work includes raising voices for disabled and transgender people as an activist.
