Justin Bour

American first baseman Justin James Bour is a free agent who plays professionally. He has represented the Miami Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, and Los Angeles Angels in Major League Baseball.

Early Life, Family, & Education

On May 28, 1988, in Washington, D.C., Jim Bour and Tracey Bour gave birth to their son Justin Bour, also known as “Bourtobello Crushroom” or “The Bourtician.”

Justin Bour’s father, Jim Bour, worked for the Secret Service and was mainly in charge of the presidential detail. He played volleyball while he was in college.

Justin’s mother, Tracey Bour, participated in softball and volleyball while she was a college student. Jason Bour and Jenna are Justin’s siblings as well.

Like his younger brother, Jason is a baseball player. The Cincinnati Reds picked him in the 23rd round of the 2007 draft.

Jason is the school’s 12th-best hitter on record, according to batting average. The Bour brothers are unquestionably top-notch baseball players.

Westfield High School in Chantilly, Virginia is where Justin finished his education. Since his senior year of high school, he had played first base and pitched.

In part thanks to Bour, his high school team won the division. During the divisional championship games of his junior year in 2005, he was chosen as an Honorable Mention All-Met.

In addition to being named to the First Team All-Met, Justin’s high school also won the division title.

Justin achieved a lot during his three years at the university. On March 6, 2007, he beat Coppin State 28-1 while hitting two grand slams and scoring nine runs, setting a school record.

In 2008, Bour played summer collegiate baseball for the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League.

Professional Career

Justin progressed through the Chicago Cubs minor league system after being selected by them.

His best performance came in 2012 while playing for the Double-A Tennessee Smokies.

Additionally, Bour earned the title of Southern League Postseason All-Star team while playing in the minor league.

While playing for the Smokies, he hit 16 home runs, but Anthony Rizzo blocked him from first base in the second half of the following season.

While playing for the Marlins in the 2014 games, he displayed his true talent, and in the 2015 games, he excelled.

On May 17, 2015, Justin made headlines when he broke Shelby Miller’s no-hit bid while playing at Marlins Park with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning.

From June 30 to July 3, 2015, he also hit consecutive home runs in four straight games, making him the eighth Marlin in the history of the team to reach the feat.

For the first time in his Major League career, Bour had a successful season in 2017.  Justin received an invitation to participate in the 2017 Home Run Derby.

During his home run derby match, he used his infamous doughnut power, and teammate Stanton even gave him some.

He hit 22 home runs in the first round of the competition, which set a record for the fourth-most ever, but Aaron Judge, who had hit 23 home runs, ultimately eliminated him.

Bour’s previous contract information indicated that he earned an average of about $500,000 per year in 2014.

In the year 2018, Justin’s contract was worth $2,449,440. Justin has a $2.5 million contract that binds him to the Hanshin Tigers through the year 2022.
