Kodak Black is an American rapper who has reached new heights of fame through his music. He is best known for his songs including  “No Flockin” and “Tunnel Vision”. Kodak Black’s bio, age, family and education

Kodak Black’s birth name is Dieuson Octave. He is also known as Bill K. Kapri. He was born on June 11, 1997, in Pompano Beach, Florida, United States. He also grew up in his birthplace. His parents were from Haiti and had immigrated into the US.

We do not know of the rapper’s entire childhood days and his parents. But we know that he was raised by his mother in Golden Acres. Golden Acres is a  public housing project located in Pompano Beach. It seems that Kodak had a hard upbringing. While growing up, he has described that he had two options- “sell drugs with a gun on his hip or rap”.

So Dieuson started to rap in his elementary school days. Although we do not know which school he attended for his primary education, we are told that he used to go to a local trap house after school to record music. He also had focused on improving his vocabulary. So he had spent his young days reading thesauruses and dictionaries.

In 2014, Kodak has said he is studying diploma at  Blanche Ely High School. Kodak’s ethnicity is African American and nationality is American.

Kodak Black’s career

So he got into rapping from an early age. So how did he get his stage name? At the age of 6, he had started to use the name “Black”. He also had used the name “Lil’ Black” for quite some time. When he joined the Instagram, Kodak chose the name, Kodak Black. This name stuck with him and he came to be known as Kodak Black.

At the age of 12, in 2009, he joined a  rap group called Brutal Youngnz. Later on, he also was a member of rap group The Kolyons.

In December 2013, he released his first mixtape, Project Baby followed by Hear of the Projects in December 2014. His other mixtape Institution was released in December 2015. As time went on he was recognized more for his music, initially with the help of Drake. Drake had posted a video of him dancing to Kodak’s song  “Skrt”.

Now, he is one of the most sought-after and talented rappers in the music industry. Also, he has featured with several A-list musicians.

Kodak Black’s legal issues

He has several issues with the law. Kodak was placed into a  youth detention center, three times in one year! Probation had followed his detention time.

In October of 2015, Kodak was arrested in Pompano Beach. He was charged with robbery, battery, false imprisonment of a child, and possession of cannabis. He was released later. Also in April 2016, he was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana, and fleeing from officers. After release, he was again arrested in May 2016 and charged with armed robbery and false imprisonment.

In September 2016, he was sentenced to four months in jail. He was arrested again in February 2017. His most recent arrest was in January 2018. He was also charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Kodak Black’s Controversy

There are a few controversies surrounding the rapper. In January 2017, Kodak had broadcasted a Live video of himself along with several other men, while a woman performed oral sex on them. The rapper later posted on Twitter:

“If I could change I swear I would .. I tried everything but I’m just so hood.”

Also, he has shared that he preferred light skinned girls over dark skinned ones. The controversy started when he was asked about actress Keke Palmer. He had said :

 “Keke Palmer, she straight, I’d bag her, but I don’t really like black girls like that, sorta kinda.”

He later added that light skinned women are easier to break down and black women are “too gutter”. He also said he does not like his own skin complexion.

Kodak Black’s girlfriend and son

Kodak is in a relationship with Cuban Doll. In November 2017, there are rumors that the two might engaged and ready to settle down as he had posted a video on Instagram that might be hinting he is engaged. He had said:

“I want to wife someone up this is my goal right now.”

Kodak is also a father to a 3-year-old son named King Khalid Octave. Even he did not know he had a son until his son was a year old. His baby mama reportedly had several issues over payment and custody of the child.

Also, there was speculation that he is going to have a child by another woman. He had shared a picture of an ultrasound. But no further information on this matter is available.
