Her childhood was spent on a farm on the outskirts of Shickshinny, PA. Her parents had divorced and her mother had remarried a person whose last name was Andre. It was on this farm that her mother, stepfather, and sister lived as well. Her biological father was residing in the nearby Benton. She has a stepbrother named Eric Andre who was the last of her stepfather from his previous relationship.

She has a mixed ethnicity-German, Scottish, and English. She is not related to John, Jason, or Tyler Ritter in any way. She was studying at Northwest Area High School from where she graduated in 2000.
Her career started as a model
Krysten was at the Wyoming Valley Mall when she was noticed by a talent scout. She was just 15 at that time. She had mentioned that she was extremely thin and skinny at that time and also tall and awkward. She was still in high school at that time but used to travel to NY and Philadelphia during her off days for modeling assignments. Later, Krysten signed with the Elite Model Management Agency and later also with the Wilhelmina Models.
For better opportunities and ease of work, Krysten migrated to NY when she was 18. She soon grabbed more modeling jobs and became an international name in fashion, print ads, and also on TV.
