She starred in movies such as Five Easy Pieces (1971). When a filmmaker sought to cast twins for a project, a friend of his suggested Rachel and Sidney. As a consequence, the two girls played Jill in the 1973 television film Sunshine.
Following their work on Sunshine, the twins were suggested for the role of Carrie Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie, a TV series based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s bestselling books. They were three years old when they were hired.
In the program’s opening credits, the girls were billed as Lindsay Sidney Greenbush, and they would share the role of Carrie for the duration of their time on the show (the two appeared on Little House from 1974 to 1982). Both girls appeared together on television in “The Godsister,” an episode in which a lonely Carrie invents an imaginary identical buddy; even in this episode, Rachel and Sidney rotated between the two parts.
