Marcus Allen is an American former football running back and football analyst for CBS. As a professional player, Allen ran for 12,243 yards and caught 587 passes for 5,412 yards during his illustrious career for both the Los Angeles Raiders and the Kansas City Chiefs from 1982 to 1997.
Allen is considered to be one of the greatest goal line and short-yard runners in the National Football League (NFL) history.

Allen started his footballing career from Abraham Lincoln High School as a Quarterbacks and safety man. After that, he played for the University of California (USC) from 1978 to 1981 as a defensive back and tailback. In 1980, he was a freshman in National Champions Team.
During his four seasons at college, he successfully became the second player in NCAA history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a single season. He has completed his 4,664 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns with an average of 5.2 yards per carry in his career.
Marcus Allen: Los Angeles Raiders, Kansas City
Marcus Allen was drafted with the 10th overall pick of the 1982 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Raiders. He rushed 697 yards and led the Los Angeles Raiders to the best record in the AFC at 8-1. He was voted the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for his performances.
On January 22, 1984, in Super Bowl XVIII, Allen ran for 191 yards, caught two passes for 18 yards, and then scored two touchdowns against the Washington Redskins. After winning the game, he joined a small group of players to win both the Heisman Trophy and Super Bowl MVP.
Allen eventually left the Raiders and joined the Kansas City Chiefs in 1993. Although he only rushed for 764 yards in 1993, he scored 12 touchdowns and was named the NFL Comeback Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers Association. He eventually retired after the 1997 season and was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the year, 2003.
In 2008, he joined as a spokesman for the sports website OPENSports.com and wrote a blog and occasionally even answered member questions for the company during this time.
