Troy Aikman is a well-known personality in the world of football. He was a former Dallas Cowboys quarterback. But how many know about his ex-wife Rhonda Worthey? Not many, I suppose.
He was married to her for nearly 11 years. Let us today take a scoop of this relationship and know more about Rhonda and her career!
Troy-Rhonda relationship and marriage to Rhonda Worthey that did not last
Troy Aikman was working as the Dallas Cowboys quarterback when he and Rhonda Worthey had met. This first meeting had taken place at the team’s practice facility. After their meeting, they liked each other and enjoyed each other’s company.
Soon they were in love and started dating. They had dated for nearly 18 months before the couple decided to tie the knot in April 2000. The wedding ceremony was an intimate one and held in his Plano, Texas home.
Troy-Rhonda’s children and divorce
The marriage was a happy one initially and the two had two children during the period of their togetherness. They are Jordan Ashley Aikman (born August 24, 2001) and Alexa Marie Aikman (born July 30, 2002).
Worthey also had a daughter called Rachel from a previous relationship. Despite a seemingly good married life, this relationship did not survive the test of time and the couple separated on January 25, 2011, after 11 years of the wedding. And they legally separated on April 21, 2011.
Announcing the split, Aikman had issued an official statement which stated:
“This has been a difficult decision for Rhonda and me, but after 10 years of marriage, we have decided to separate. We remain deeply committed to our children and respectfully ask that you honor our family’s privacy during this period of adjustment.”
Aikman preferred to keep his divorce proceedings private. In November 2011, TMZ had reported that Troy Aikman’s and Rhonda’s divorce was completed in April 2011. They split the assets between them and later went on to purchase a home worth $ 1.5 million in Dallas.
Children’s custody was given to Rhonda.
Troy-Rhonda’s Life after the divorce
After the divorce, Rhonda Worthey has continued to be single. She is taking care of her kids and is not known to be dating anyone yet.
Right after the divorce, Rhonda was arrested and charged with violating public well-being by public intoxication in a high school, Murphy, Texas. Her Lawter did release a statement:
“It happened when she was waiting for a friend, to come to guide her to her destination. She was not wrong and did not break any laws. She is sorry about all the things and intends to continue to dedicate her time to helping people in need in North Texas. Like most of us have been from time to time, Rhonda was lost and gotten bad directions”.
Troy Aikman, on the other hand, was dating model Tracy Ripsin and the two had met through mutual friends in 2014. They were at Joe Buck’s wedding together. But this was also not to last.
Troy then started dating Capa Mooty, got engaged in July 2017, and married her in September 2017 in a ceremony held in Santa Barbara, CA.
In August 2012, Rhonda Worthey was arrested on charges of public intoxication. She was at the Texas High School parking lot at that time and was in possession of two water bottles with alcohol in them; these were in her vehicle. She was also accused of yelling at the policemen. She was given 30 days of probation.
Rhonda’s work career, age, family, education
Rhonda Worthey was working as a publicist for the Cowboys. This was also the time that she had met her husband of 11 years, Troy Aikman. In March 2012, it was reported that she would be starring in ‘The Real Housewives of Dallas’.
However, the show was indefinitely delayed and it was only in February 2016 that it was confirmed. But Rhonda’s name never figured in the cast.
