Sweet Brown or Kimberly Wilkins is an Oklahoma City resident who shot to fame following her interview on local news station KFOR News Channel 4 (an NBC affiliate).
It was a hilarious two-minute video which was made when Sweet Brown was interviewed by the local news channel after she escaped a fire in her apartment complex.
It was the morning of 7th April 2012 when a fire broke out at an Oklahoma City apartment complex in Oklahoma. Five units of the complex were damaged and one person was admitted to a hospital due to acute smoke inhalation.
Having arrived first on the scene, KFOR-TV interviewed one of the displaced resident and fire survivors named Sweet Brown.

Describing the incident, Sweet Brown said that she had aroused from sleep to get some cold pop for herself when she heard some noise and saw some smoke. She thought that someone was barbecuing but soon realized that it was a fire.

Kimberly Wilkins also added that due to her bronchitis she could not wait there for long and ran out of the building without shoes.
During her narration, she often kept repeating the phrase ‘ain’t nobody got time for that!”. This catchphrase became quite a memorable one and formed the basis later for a number of remixes.

The video was uploaded on YouTube on the same day by a KFOR-TV employee called as Ted Malave. On day 2, YouTuber ‘lucasmarr‘ uploaded another version of this video and it was this video that got the maximum views.
There were 1 million views in sheer 48 hours. There were also 109000 shares in 48 years on Facebook. This video was also reposted on other websites such as Tosh 0, eBaum’s world etc.
A ringtone of this catchphrase was also released by Boston radio station WAAF. By 2017, the video has got 64 million views.
Sweet Brown’s follow-ups
On 12th April 2012, NBC went back to interview Sweet Brown and her son which was telecast on its channel the same day. On 13th April 2012, lucasmarr also visited Sweet Brown and her son and gifted them with 4 cases of the Royal Crown Cola. Sweet Brown was quite happy and said:

Sweet Brown- An overnight celebrity and a household name
Sweet Brown soon became famous due to her video and the catchphrase. She had multiple appearances on TV including on ABC’s The View.
She also had a guest role in Tyler Perry 2013 movie called ‘A Madea Christmas’. At the end of the film, Sweet Brown repeats a line from her KFOR-TV interview. She also appeared in commercials such as 1800-2SELLHOMES.
She also was mobbed by her fans while on the road. Beyonce quoted her at the Superbowl. In 2013, she co-hosted the Dallas-based syndicated show ‘Cheaters’ along with Clark Gable III. She had also her own line of T-shirts and barbecue sauces. But this business did not pick up.

This was probably her last public appearance. In 2014, a parody was made by Jimmy Kimmel on his show where Queen Latifah played Sweet Brown.
Sweet Brown Sues Apple
In 2012, Apple made a remix called as ‘I Got Bronchitis’ based on the audio clips of her first interview. This they sold on their iTunes store.
In June 2012, Sweet Brown filed a case in District Court of Oklahoma County against Apple, Seattle-based radio program ‘The Bob Rivers Show’ and a number of other parties for unauthorized use of her likeness and voice for the remix far earning purpose.
Kimberly Wilkins sought $ 15 million as damages. Apple removed the song from iTunes and the case has been shifted to United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
There were also other remixes made by other companies using her other phrases such as ‘O Lord Jesus’ and ‘Cold pop’.
As per the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, if a company promptly removes a material in which the copyright is disputed, it is automatically protected from further proceedings. By end of 2013, the case was dismissed.
Whatever happened to Sweet Brown?
Since her last public appearance on the show ‘the Cheaters’, Sweet Brown has not appeared on any other show or made any public appearances.
Her 2 Twitter accounts also did not show any activity since 2014. It is not known where and how she is now. It is said that she still resides in the same complex as before.

After Sweet Brown co-complaint was dismissed, she turned to the advertisement. She did several local and small advertisements. One noticeable advertisement was for Shortline Dental which was posted to YouTube on May 12, 2012.
