Similarly, he was a student at South Philadelphia High School. It is not known whether he completed his schooling or dropped out. No details exist online about his further education if he had taken any.

Frankie entered into the field of entertainment when he was just 11 years old. He first appeared on the TV show The Jackie Gleason Show in December 1952 when he could be seen playing the trumpet during the Christmas Party. Avalon was featured playing the trumpet on some of his LP songs. He recorded a number of singles and most of these reached the Billboard Top 100.
Likewise, his debut role in the film Jamboree was a short one and in this 1957 film, he could be sighted playing the trumpet and singing the song ‘Teacher’s Pet’. He got teen roles supporting the main stars and was seen in 1960’s Guns of the Timberland along with Alan Ladd. He was recommended to play this role by the daughter of Alan Ladd.
