American singer Ice Cube began with being a part of hip-hop groups and soon branched out to make his solo career. He has a great sense of rapping and music and has also proven his worth in the acting field. He also has been active behind the camera and produced several movies that fared well at the box office. He turned an entrepreneur with his clothing line and also owns a basketball league which consists mainly of NBA retired players.
Ice Cube takes a personal interest in his basketball league and was quick to mourn the death of former basketball player Rasual Butler, 38, and his singer wife Leah LaBelle Vladowski, 31 both of whom died rather unfortunately in a car accident in the Studio City section of LA.

Ice Cube, his career, and team
Ice Cube had an interest in music and rapping from the teens. He used to rap in school. Though he did a diploma in architecture as a backup career, his passion had always been music. He sold his first song to future N.W.A. member Eazy-E. He formed C.I.A. (Cru’ in Action) with Sir Jinx and the duo would perform with Dr. Dre. He wrote songs for Dre and also formed his Stereo Crew. They released in 1986 the record called ‘She’s a Skag’.
Ice Cube released in 1987 My Posse along with Dre. Ice Cube was also a member of N.W.A. He used to write songs for the group. All went smoothly for 2 years when there was some displeasure over the contract terms and Ice Cube left N.W.A. to go solo.

He released his album ‘AmeriKKKa’s Most Wanted’ in 1990 to an instant hit, though also getting into controversies over the lyrics. He soon also entered acting and was cast in Boyz in the Hood. His EP Kill at Will also gained great success.
His second album Death Certificate came out in 1991 and this though famous again had controversial lyrics. His 1992 tour widened his fan base. His third album The Predator was released in November 1992 which topped music charts. Selling more than 3 million copies in the US, it was his most successful album. His fourth album Lethal injection was not well received by critics. In 1994, Ice Cube took a break from his music career to focus on acting.
In 1998, he released his solo album War and Peace Vol. 1. In 2000, volume 2 of this album was released. He rejoined with N.W.A and also went on tour with them. His seventh solo was released in 2006 and was called ‘Laugh Now, Cry Later’. This was also successful. His eighth album named Raw Footage was released in 2008. He also had more song and documentary releases in 2009-2010. His ninth studio album I am the West was released in 2010. He also collaborated with other rap artists and also entered into business. He also acted in films and TV shows and also wrote screenplays. He also founded his BIG3 basketball league.

Ice Cube has been married to Kimberly Woodruff since 26 April 1992. The couple has 4 children; O’Shea Jr., Darrell, Kareema, and Shareef. His son O’Shea played the role of his father Ice Cube in the biopic Straight Outta Compton.

Ice Cube’s life before his fame
Ice Cube was born as O’Shea Jackson on 15 June 1969 in Baldwin Hills, South Central LA. His father Hosea Jackson was a machinist and worked as a groundskeeper at UCLA. His mother Doris is a hospital clerk. He has an older brother. His half-sister was murdered when he was 12. He has cousins who are also in the rap industry.

He attended George Washington Preparatory High School in LA. He is an alum of William Howard Taft High School and later completed a diploma from the Phoenix Institute of Technology. One wonders how his name Ice Cube came up. Ice Cube had once answered this question thus:
“He threatened to slam me into a freezer and pull me out when I was an ice cube. I just started using that name, and it just caught on.”
