Kentrell DeSean Gaulden or NBA YoungBoy as he often called is Baton Rouge promising rapper. He has given quite a number of mixtapes to his fans but unfortunately found himself on the wrong side of the law. YoungBoy has completed his jail term and is now free. He hopes to make some good music.
Let us take a walk down the memory lane to fetch some details about this raw rapper!
YoungBoy was born as Kentrell DeSean Gaulden. He was brought up in the Northern part of Baton Rouge by his grandmother. Remembering those days, YoungBoy had once said:
“It was hard but fun. We had to make it fun.”
NBA YoungBoy suffered a neck break during a wrestling and also has 3 deep scars on his forehead due to the halo brace that he had to wear for stabilization of the neck at that time. His grandmother expired when YoungBoy was still schooling. He was left alone in this world. He could not continue school beyond the 9th grade. Vices took their toll on him and he was arrested for robbery and put in a juvenile detention home in Tallulah, Louisiana.
YoungBoy had the talent to rap but had kept it hidden from everyone since he was not confident and sure about his craft. However, while at the detention center, NBA YoungBoy wrote a number of songs. After his release, he compiled it into his first mixtape called as ‘Life before Fame’ in 2015.
This was followed by the release of another album called as ‘Mind of a Menace’. These were followed by ‘Mind of a Menace 2’ and ‘Mind of a Menace 3’. Soon he also went on to release ’38 Baby’.
A great rapper in the making!
Though in real-life NBA YoungBoy is a very quiet person, he puts his whole heart and words into his songs. He uses the song lyrics to confess about his life realities. He has also rapped about his father who too has been in jail for a very long time. His raps explain about the treacherous life of his hometown and have won him a huge fan base.
YoungBoy puts a lot of emphasis on ‘Loyalty’. He told Ben Dandridge-Lemco:
“Without loyalty, you won’t accomplish anything, Everything will be salty.”
YoungBoy has a group of childhood friends who are with him always and form a protection around him. The group is called as ‘NeverBrokeAgain’ or NBA. His friends do not rap but are seen in his videos.
YoungBoy involved in a shootout and legal trouble
YoungBoy has a number of enemies in his hometown. They are involved in gang wars. For his safety, he always carries his gun with him. On 2nd November 2016, there was a drive-by shooting at 2000 block of Kentucky St. and YoungBoy was the prime suspect in it. He was taken into custody from his performance at Austin, Texas on 28th November 2017.
He was accused of 2 counts of attempted second-degree murder. He accepted having fired multiple from his gun during the shooting. He was then charged with one count of aggravated assault with a firearm. It was a revenge shooting. He was sentenced to 6 months in jail.
NBA YoungBoy completed his prison term and has been released from jail on 23rd May 2017. He has big plans to make the best single and album. YoungBoy’s troubled past implies his life is in danger in his native place and he needs to move out if he wants to achieve his ambitions.
Meek Mill has also recommended to YoungBoy to move out of his hometown if he wants to stay alive and do good work! We wish this young rapper a long, happy and accomplished life!
NBA YoungBoy fights fan!
In a concert, NBA YoungBoy became so angry at a fan that he beat him, quite badly. After his performance, he jumped straight to a particular fan and began to beat him. The rapper’s friend did come to beat up the fan but NBA was doing all by himself. Quickly the security team was there to separate the scuffle.
It is still unclear what the fan said or did that enraged NBA so much. The cops were called in but no one was arrested.
However, it was later revealed that the fan had actually tried to grab his chain.
