Rolonda Watts is an American producer, actress, novelist, motivational speaker, voice-over artist, and television and radio talk show host. Rolonda Watts currently works as an on-camera announcer for Divorce Court and she is popular for her work as host of Eponymous Rolonda.

Her father’s name is Roland Watts(chairman of Winston-Salem State University’s Fine Arts Department) and her mother’s name is Dr. Velma Gibson Watts(associate dean at Wake Forest University). Her family shifted to Atlanta, Georgia, and Columbia later. Rolonda holds American citizenship and her ethnicity is a mix of African Americans.

Watts joined Salem Academy in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and shifted to Spelman College in Atlanta and graduated from there. Then, she joined the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and earned her Master’s degree in 1981. She achieved her honorary doctorate in Human Letters from Winston-Salem State University.

Rolonda worked as editor-in-chief for the school newspaper during her days at Spelman College. After she graduated from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, She started working for WFMY-TV as a general assignment reporter and later worked for WNBC. For her work at WNBC, she was nominated for an Emmy and AABC_TV in New York as an anchor of a weekly political forum and reporter.

Then, she started working as a host of Attitudes, and the next year, she worked as a senior correspondent, weekend anchor, and producer on the newsmagazine ‘Inside Edition’.

Rolonda Watts was suggested to rum her show by King World Productions and The Oprah Winfrey Show. ‘Rolonda’ was aired from January 17, 1994, to September 1997 in which was the show was run for four seasons. She ended the show and told in an interview,

“Audiences were saying, ‘Well, that was really nice of you to be so respectful, but where’s Jerry [Springer]?’ We had to make a tough decision, either we go that route or we find something else to do.”

Then she made her way towards Hollywood to pursue her career in acting. She made her breakthrough appearance in 1997 after she was a cast as Vivica Shaw in Sister, Sister and she played the role for six episodes. Then, she made her appearance in several television shows like ‘Days of Our Lives’, ‘The West Wing’, ‘JAG’, ‘Dear’, ‘The District Yes’, ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’.

She was named as Scene Stealer of the Week by the Soap Opera Digest in 2002 for her role as the cut-throat Attorney Cameron Resse on Days of Our Lives.

She is also the president/CEO of her own production company ‘Watts Works Productions’. The company co-produced her talk show Rolonda. She returned to her talk show roots in October 2006. She signed a radio network GreenStone Media to host an afternoon radio show and hosted there until August 2007. She served as an announcer for the age show ‘Temptation’ which was run from September 2007 to May 2008.

Rolonda Watts started her stand up carer in between June and August of 2017. She started her own web series name ‘ROmance’ via YouTube.
