There was high drama on the set of America’s Got Talent show which was being telecast live on 22/8/2017. Judge Mel B threw a cup of water on co-Judge Simon Cowell leaving him wet and then stormed out of the set.
How the drama unfolded
It happened when contestant magician Demian Aditya attempted an escape trick which involved a wooden box, fire and steel stakes. The trick did not work out and the host Tyra Banks explained that there was a technical snag and there was no fault in Aditya. At that time, Simon Cowell jokingly said:
“I kind of imagine this would be like Mel B’s wedding night. A lot of anticipation, not much promise or delivery.”
Mel B did not like the joke and she spilled the contents of her cup onto the clothes of Simon Cowell and rushed out. Tyra Banks commented:
“Mel B is out. This is live TV, all. Live TV,”
Co-Judge Howie Mandel just added confusingly:
“Something just went wrong.”
Mel B’s side of the story
Mel B returned for the shoot after the commercial break. Justifying her act, Mel B told E! News:
“[Evie Clair] really made me cry because it made me think about my dad, and my dad recently passed away from cancer also, with an almost eight to nine years struggle. So a story like that from such a young girl really touches my heart. She just sounded so beautiful and I couldn’t stop crying, so I go from that to Simon saying something so rude and inappropriate.”
She added:
“He should know, if you say something inappropriate he’s gonna get like stuff thrown at him. In a friendly way. I made sure there was no ice in it this time.”
Mel B called him an a**hole but Simon Cowell seemed unperturbed and non-regretful of his remark on Mel B. Her co-Judge Heidi Klum was with Mel B on this and said that Simon was harsh with Mel B and derived to get wet.

Mel B’s current troubled life phase
Mel B is going through a rough patch of her life at the moment and hence Simon’s remark was ill-timed. Mel B and her husband of 10 years producer Stephen Belafonte are presently locked in a bitter divorce battle. They are also fighting over the custody of their biological daughter Madison with Mel B.
He has also asked to be able to meet his stepdaughter Angel who is the daughter of Mel B with her ex-boyfriend, Eddie Murphy.
She has also been said to have splurged her fortune and is broke now. She has paid a deposit for a house in the USA and has no funds to pay the remaining amount. She now only earns from ‘AGT’ show as a Judge on it and has also requested her friends to loan her some money.
If this was not enough, Mel B could possibly face prosecution from her former nanny Lorraine Gilles whom she has named in her divorce papers. Mel B had said that Lorraine had threesomes with her and her husband, had become pregnant with Stephen’s child and also undergone an abortion.
Judge Dalila has given Lorraine the green signal to file a defamation suit against Mel B if Lorraine wishes to. If Lorraine goes ahead with this case for libel and emotional torture and wins it, she would be able to demand as much as GBP 1.6 million from Mel B.
Considering her mental status at present with the goings-on in her life, her reaction on the show is understandable. We hope that Mel B is able to come out of these problems at the earliest and concentrate on rebuilding her and her children’s life!
Mel B is accused of assault
Mel B’s hard times seems to add up more and more. Recently, a 20-year-old model, Dujuan Thomas has claimed that he was struck by the Spice Girls singer after he asked her career advice after attending LA fashion show on 19th October, Saturday!
Thomas said that he was deeply concerned for the well being of Mel B and her three daughters.
Thomas shares:
“Before we met I respected her as the respectable, beautiful America’s Got Talent judge, who is representing minorities. But it could not be further from the truth off camera. Now I have nothing but negative feelings. The way she acted did not represent how a normal stable sober person would behave.”
