Professional Career: Actor, Writer, Director
He gave a start to his career as an actor. Sean was featured in the TV series, Survivors. In the same year he was featured in the movie, A Bridge Too Far as an Irish Guard Lieutenant. He was also part of other movies like 1980- Priest of Love, 1982- Scarlet Pimpernel, and 1988- White Mischief. Then he started as a writer, where Mathias’ first play was Cowardice and starred Ian McKellen, Janet Suzman, and Nigel Davenport.
Some of his other plays were 1987-A Prayer For Wings- 1989 Poor Nanny and 1990- Swansea Boys. He also wrote some novels they are 1988-Manhattan Mourning and a BBC TV film, 1992- The Lost Language of Cranes. As a director, he directed movie Somewhat Dead, a horror-adventure comedy in 2014. He was awarded as the Best Director by London Critics Circle Theatre Award in 1994. Also was achieved Award of The Youth for Bent by Cannes Flim Festival in 1997. He was awarded as the Best feature film for Bent by Torino International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in 1998.
