His father was George Jacob Lagina and his mother was Ann Lagina-Cavalieri. His maternal grandparents were Enrico Cavalieri and Theresa Cavalieri. His paternal grandparents were Jacob Lagina and Julia Lagina.
Rick Lagina’s full name is Richard George Lagina. He has one brother called Marty Lagina and two sisters who are both teachers. The sisters are married to family Gardner and Fornetti respectively. His nephew is Alex Lagina who is the son of Marty Lagina. Rick Lagina had read about the Oak Island mystery when he was 11 years old. He came to learn about this in the January 1965 issue of Reader’s Digest. Since then, it was Rick Lagina’s dream to solve this mystery.

What is the Oak Island mystery?
Oak Island is a private island on the south shore of Nova Scotia, Canada. It falls in the Lunenburg County and is one of the 360 odd and small islands in the Mahone Bay. Its area extends over 140 acres and it is mainly tree-filled. Its height at any level is not more than 11 feet above sea level. It lies just 200 meters from the mainland and is connected to it by means of a causeway built in 1965 by Robert Dunfield.
There is folklore connected to this island which states that the island has a hidden treasure. There are beliefs that there is buried treasure and unexplained objects on this island. The latter include Marie Antoinette’s jewels, Shakespearean manuscripts, and certain religious artifacts. Since the 1850s several excavations have been carried out in an attempt to reach the treasure but all have fallen flat.
